- Once Firefox is installed from Flatpak, updates are automatic so no need to reinstall. Download a specific locale version When installing Flatpak (via the command line or via the Flathub url link), the OS locale is being checked (OS locale and not the browser accept language header) and Flathub only sends the locales that share the same prefix.
- To upgrade only Firefox from the terminal type: sudo apt upgrade firefox The above command works without the -only-upgrade option. If your Firefox is already the latest version the command will not install any new package, and you will get the following message: firefox is already the newest version.
Open a terminal and run the following commands: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer. To update Firefox, run the following commands: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install firefox. Don't forget to restart Firefox. To check currently installed Firefox version, Open the Ubuntu terminal and, Type:

The apt-get command will check if new updates are available, if then it will upgrade Firefox to the newest version.
Again from the command line check the Firefox version and make sure that the browser been upgraded to the newest version.
